A shoplifter has been jailed after threatening to stab staff with a drill bit at a Peterborough toy shop.
Stephen Foot, 29, was confronted by staff at Smyths Toys in Boongate on November 3 when he was caught stealing a toy truck.
He pulled out a pointed drill bit and threatened to stab staff if they approached him before fleeing the scene with the stolen item.
Foot, of no fixed address, was arrested less than 30 minutes later by the spree offender team in Dickens Street, Eastfield.
PC Lily Norman, who investigated the case, said: "Foot’s behaviour towards the shop staff was completely unacceptable, and no one should face these threats while trying to do their job."
At Peterborough Magistrates' Court on November 4, he was charged with possession of a bladed article and three counts of theft from a shop.
Foot was also found to have stolen from H&M in Queensgate on October 23 and Home Bargains in Bourges Boulevard on November 1.
He was sentenced to six months in prison.
