A REWARD of up to 50,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Llywelyn Thomas’ killer.

The reward is being offered by Mr Thomas’ family (20,000), Crimestoppers (10,000) and Cambridgeshire police (20,000).

Mr Thomas, 76, was found dead at his home in Ely Road, Chittering, on Sunday, December 18. It is believed he was killed during a botched burglary the previous night.

Three distinctive watches were found to be missing from his home along with a wallet.

His silver Rover 75 estate, registration BJ51 CJV, was also stolen and found dumped in Church Lane, Milton.

Police believe Mr Thomas was killed between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, December 17.

Detective Chief Inspector George Barr said: “I hope this reward will motivate someone with information about those responsible for Mr Thomas’ death to come forward.

“Any information, no matter how small, could provide that vital clue in catching his killers.”

Mr Thomas’ son Richard said: “I would urge anyone who has information about my father’s death to come forward to assist the police investigation.

“Someone out there knows what happened on the night he was killed, hopefully this reward will encourage them to help bring those responsible to justice.”

Ann Scott, Eastern Regional Manager for Crimestoppers, added: “You have nothing to fear by giving information to Crimestoppers. We never ask for your name or take any personal details. We do not trace calls/IP addresses and we do not record our calls.

“You will not have to go to court or give a statement to police. In the 24 years that we have been running the charity has never revealed anyone’s identity.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

The reward will be divided between people who provide relevant information which results in police officers arresting and convicting those responsible for Mr Thomas’ murder.

The 10,000 Crimestoppers reward can only be claimed by those who provide information to the charity directly on 0800 555111. Information given via the online secure form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org will not qualify for the reward.

Anyone involved in the murder will not be eligible to claim any of the reward.
