A WISBECH man has received Fenland Council's first fixed penalty notice for dumping litter.
The man deposited six bags of domestic rubbish outside the Fenland @ your service shop in Wisbech on January 9. As a result he was served with the £50 fixed penalty notice. The fine was paid.
This move re-inforces the council's determination to crack down on enviro-offences and use its enforcement powers.
The council provides hundreds of litter bins across the district and undertakes ongoing educational campaigns in its bid to keep Fenland's streets rubbish-free.
Councillor Fred Yeulett, portfolio holder for Enforcement said: "Enforcement against such offences is a key priority for the council and we will take a firm line with people who continue to drop their litter.
"Prosecution is a last resort but it shows our commitment to dealing with such behaviour in order to improve the quality of life for Fenland residents.
