£8,000 trailer which was stolen five years ago is recovered by police in Straight Drove, Farcett

An £8,000 trailer which was stolen five years ago was recovered by police in Farcett, near Peterborough yesterday.

Officers from Ely police station carried out a search warrant under section 26 of the Theft Act at a site on Straight Drove.

The officers found the site unattended but discovered a trailer worth £8,000 which was stolen five years ago.

Police said: “The victim, who had only bought the trailer from new a day before it was stolen, did not have insurance on the item.

“We contacted him yesterday to give him the good news and he was delighted.”

Detective Constable Peter Ware, leading the search, said: “This is a substantial trailer and we had to hoist it out of the site onto the rear of a low loader.

“The gentleman who the trailer will be returned to was very pleased with his good news.”
