DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a 92-year-old woman was held down in her chair whilst being burgled.

The incident took place on Monday, September 25 between 9.30pm and 9.45pm in The Bank, Somersham, near St Ives. Two men entered her house through a back door. One man held her wrists so she couldn't get out of her chair, whilst the other searched the living room.

The two men left the house on foot and ran in the direction of Chatteris with around £400 in cash.

One man is white, around 5'10" with a slender or thin build, fair complexion, clean shaven and aged around 23 or 24. He wore light coloured trousers and a scarf on his head.

The second man was around 5'5" tall, with a sturdy build. He wore a short dark jacket.

Detective Constable Mark Cockerham is appealing for anyone in the area at the time. He said: "I would specifically appeal to dog walkers who were in The Bank area at that time of the evening. The men left on foot and were running so this may be quite memorable to anyone who saw them.

"This lady has been left very shaken and traumatised by this experience. I urge anyone who saw anything suspicious around this time in The Bank area to call me."

Anyone with any information should contact DC Cockerham at Ramsey Police Station on 0845 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
