WISBECH Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society took to the stage with Gipsy Love for its 25th production in the spring of 1956.
It was also a show tinged with sadness because it was the final production for Arthur Garside.
One of the main features of the show was the dances and ballets planned by Mr Garside.
The highlight was a ghost ballet with the same mist-manufacturing equipment used as in the Drury Lane production. Musical director for the production was Albert Gay, with the 18-member orchestra led by Tallis Trimnel with Edith Trimnel at the piano.
For the first time, the society had an honorary hairstylist in Joan Thomas, who was there to dress the hair of the leading female members before each show.
