BUDDING artists from three March primary schools have been sharing their visions for world peace by designing some imaginative posters.

The Peace Poster Competition was started in 1988 by Lions Clubs International to give young people the opportunity to express their visions in a creative way. Local Lions sponsor the competitions.

Each year about 350,000 youngsters aged between 11 and 13 from 68 countries take part.

This year's competition was entitled 'Celebrate Peace' and pupils from Westwood Junior School, Burrowmoor School and All Saints School took part.

Each school held a separate competition, with each winning entry going through to the district finals for judging in November.

The winner from the district final goes on to be judged for the best in the British Isles and Ireland, and then to International. The eventual International winner gets a trip to New York to visit the United Nations headquarters.

Chairman of the judging panel for the local competition was Len Bradbury and he was joined by teachers from Westwood and Burrowmoor Schools and Lions President Leon Hyde, from March Lions Club. All entries received for judging will be displayed in St Peter's Church, March, from September 14-17 as part of a craft show.
