GEORGE and Verna Beeken reckon they have come up with the perfect recipe for success when it comes to attracting birds to their Manea garden.It is all down to the special menu of seeds, corn and nuts which is proving a big hit with many species. But the couple reckon the best-loved ingredient is sunflower hearts - taken from sunflower seeds and more usually used in bakeries.Goldfinches, greenfinches, blue tits, robins, wrens, hedge sparrows, house sparrows, blackbirds and magpies all flock to the Orchard Way garden for daily feeds.Over the years the retired couple have seen the number of feathered visitors gradually increase and George says any food dropped from the feeders by one lot of birds is picked up from the ground by the others.He said: "My wife feeds them in the morning and at night. They come in gangs and I think they have found the best place around when it comes to food. We spend a lot of time just watching them from the window.
