A tea and cake afternoon in Leverington to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday raised £300 for local good causes.

A host of visitors were welcomed who enjoyed a wide range of home baked cakes and scones with local people generously donating lots of raffle prizes. The funds will be split between two committees and go towards other ventures such as the Leverington Letter, the popular village newsletter.

One of the organisers Annie Appleby said: “A massive thank you must go to everyone who helped whether you baked cakes, washed up, tended to tables, served food, decorated the room, sold raffle tickets - the list goes on.

“It was a real team effort and you should be proud of what you achieved - you were magnificent.”
