The A1122 at Nordelph, near Downham Market, reopened today after months of roadworks.
Drivers travelling through Fenland between Downham and Wisbech are spared diversions of about 30 miles caused by the closure.
Road markings and other minor works to finish the �800,000 project have not yet been completed.
These will be carried out when the warmer weather comes, but the road will remain open, officials said this morning.
