Highways England has released a schedule of roadworks set to take over the coming week across Cambridgeshire and the East of England.

The schedule covers the period from August 20 to August 26 and includes works on the M11, A1(M), A14, A428 and other key routes around the region.

M11 junction 7 (Harlow) Essex: groundwater investigations

Work to maintain safety by carrying out groundwater monitoring works continues this week. The northbound carriageway adjacent to the exit slip road will be subject to narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit over the summer.

M11 junction 14 (Girton Interchange): routine embankment maintenance

Preliminary work to stabilise the northbound exit slip road embankment begins this week. The slip road will be closed overnight for four nights between 9pm and 5am, from Monday, August 20. A clearly signed diversion will direct westbound A14 traffic onto the A428 and A1198, rejoining the carriageway at junction 24, while eastbound traffic will be diverted to junction 30 and return.

M11 and A14, Cambridgeshire: barrier and surface repairs

An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers and repair sections of the road surface along the M11 and A14 in various locations continues this week. Working hours are 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

M11 Coton footbridge: geotechnical investigations

Geotechnical investigations at the M11 crossover footbridge between Coton and Cambridge starts Monday 20 August, lasting two days, with working hours of 9am to 4pm. Please note that pedestrian access will still be maintained during these works.

A1(M) southbound junctions 10 to 9: technology maintenance

Work to maintain technology assets on the A1(M) southbound between junctions 10 and 9 starts Monday 20 August, lasting one night, with working hours of 9pm to 6am. During this work the junction 10 southbound entry slip road will be closed, alongside a single lane closure on the main carriageway.

A1(M) junction 17 - Stamford: safety improvements

Works will be carried out in stages to clear vegetation, repair the road, install sign posts, install traffic counter loops and refresh white lining and studs has started and will take around six weeks. The second phase begins this week the A1 northbound from Wansford to Stamford. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for drivers heading north via the A47 and the A43 before re-joining the A1 at Stamford.

A1/A428 junction at Wyboston: bridge repairs

Work to repair the flyover at this junction continues this week. There will be single lanes over the flyover for the duration of the bridge repairs, and a series of closures as follows, from 9pm to 6am with signed diversions:

21 August A1 southbound closed A1 southbound closed at the flyover with a very short signed diversion around via the A428 roundabout.

22 August A1 southbound and A428 westbound A1 southbound closed at the flyover with a very short signed diversion around via the A428 roundabout. A428 westbound entry slip closed with a short local diversion.

23 August A1 southbound and A428 westbound A1 southbound closed at the flyover with a very short signed diversion around via the A428 roundabout. A428 westbound entry slip closed with a short local diversion.

A12 and A120, Essex: safety barrier repairs

An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

A12 junction 13 to 15, Mountnessing: surface repairs

Work to repair the road surface continues this week along the A12 northbound between junctions 13 and 15. The road will be closed between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion along the B1002.

A12 junction 22, Witham: Colemans Bridge repairs

Work to maintain road user safety begins this week. The bridge carrying the A12 southbound slip roads at junction 22 will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am with clearly signed diversion routes in place.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

PLANNED CLOSURES

Full closures:

Monday 20 to Thursday 24 (four nights)

A1 southbound Brampton Hut entry slip road

A14 eastbound Ellington junction 20 to Brampton Hut junction 21. A signed diversion will be in place. Vehicles will travel east on the A605 then south on the A1(M) to the A605 to re-join the A14 at junction 22. Non motorway traffic will be diverted east at Wooley Hill, then north on Ellington Road and Wooley Road to re-join the A14.

A428 eastbound Madingley to A14 eastbound junction 33. Motorway traffic will travel south on the M11, east on A505 and north on A11 to re-join the A14. Non motorway traffic will be diverted on local roads through Cambridge.

M11 junction 14 exit slip

A14 westbound between junctions 36 and 3. A signed diversion will be in place. Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11. Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge

B1050 Hattons Road. A signed diversion will be in place.

A428 eastbound between Hardwick and Madingley, lane 2 closed

A14 westbound between junction 22 and junction 21, lane 1 closed

M11 northbound lane 1 closed leading to A14 westbound junction 29, lane 1 and 2 closed

A14 junction 58, Seven Hills Interchange to junction 62, Dock Gate roundabout: road survey and resurfacing works

Work to undertake road surveys and resurfacing of the A14 between junction 58, Seven Hills Interchange and junction 62, Dock Gate roundabout starts Monday 13 August, lasting 13 nights, with working hours of 9pm to 5am, weeknights only.

Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 August:

A total closure of the A14 westbound between junctions 62 and 61 will be in place. Traffic will be diverted from A14 westbound at junction 62 via the A154 on Walton Avenue and Trinity Avenue, before re-joining the A14 at junction 61.

Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 August:

A total closure of the A14 westbound between junctions 62 and 60 will be in place. Traffic will be diverted from A14 westbound at junction 62 via the A154 on Walton Avenue, Langer Road, Garrison Lane and Candlet Road, before re-joining the A14 at junction 60.

Tuesday 28 to Friday 31 August:

A total closure of the A14 westbound between junctions 59 and 58 will be in place. Traffic will be diverted from A14 westbound at junction 59 via Howlett Way, High Road, Felixstowe Road and the A1156, before re-joining the A14 at junction 58.

A47 Dereham - Honingham: relining, high friction surfacing and stud installation

Work to reline, lay high friction surfacing and install road studs along the A47 between Dereham and Honingham has started and the works will take place between 8pm to 6am on weekdays for around four weeks. There will be a full closure of the A47 and clearly signed diversions will be in place.

For drivers heading east a diversion of A1065, A148, A1067, A140 and the A1074 before re-joining the A47 will be in place.

For drivers heading west a diversion of A11, A134 and A1065 before re-joining the A47 will be in place.

A47 junction 15 to junction 19 Soke Parkway, Peterborough: drainage surveys

Work to undertake drainage surveys on the A47 between junctions 15 and 19, Peterborough continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am. This week will see an eastbound single lane closure in place, alongside the additional closures listed below.

Monday 20 August: junction 17, Bretton Way Interchange, eastbound exit slip road and eastbound entry link road to junction18 will be closed for one night. Traffic will be directed to turnaround at junction 19, Fulbridge Interchange to exit at junction 18.

Tuesday 21 August: junction16, Bretton Gate Interchange eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed for one night. Traffic wishing to exit at junction16 will be directed to turnaround at junction 17, Bretton way interchange, whilst traffic wishing to enter will be directed to turnaround at junction 15, Thomas Cook Interchange.

Wednesday 22 August: junction 15, Thomas Cook Interchange eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed for one night. Traffic wishing to exit at junction15 will be directed to turnaround at junction 16, Bretton Gate Interchange, whilst traffic wishing to enter will be directed to turnaround at Castor Interchange.

Thursday 23 August: No full closures but single lane closures will remain in place.

A120 Crown Interchange to Hare Green, Essex: road marking renewal

Work to improve road user safety continues this week on the A120 eastbound between the Crown Interchange at Colchester and Hare Green. The road will be closed between 9pm and 5am on Monday and Wednesday nights with a clearly signed diversion route via the A1232, A133, B1033 and B1035.

A120 Hare Green roundabout, Harwich Road, Essex: safety improvements

The Harwich Road junction with the A120 and the central reserve gap by Park Road are now closed.
