A stretch of the A47, between Thorney roundabout and Guyhirn roundabout, will be closed for 12 nights for improvement works.

Work to improve road signs and markings is scheduled to begin on November 16. The stretch of road will be closed overnight from 9pm-6am for the duration of the works.

A diversion will be in place for traffic via the A1139, A605 and A141. However, people will be able to access their homes at all times.

Councillor Virginia Bucknor said: “I can remember commuting from Wisbech to Peterborough and the road was busy at 5.30am. It was nose to tail.

“These works will have an incredible impact in and around Wisbech in November.”
