The A47 could be closed well into the evening after a lorry carrying heavy offshore equipment hit a bridge causing structural damage.
The road is shut between the A146 and A140 at Arminghall Lane in the direction of King’s Lynn.
It happened at 2.10pm today and a spokesman for Norfolk police said the road could be closed for several hours.
There are no injuries.
