CHAIRMAN Margaret Kleyn told Acorn Club members that the new date for the Christmas lunch would be Tuesday, December 19 (12.30 for 1pm) and arrangements were finalised for the quiz night on September 27. Daphne Bell will again organise the harvest supper and members volunteered to help. Lorna Lunn and Gwen Lunn will run the harvest stall. A picture, a pastel of an Upwell scene, will be raffled. It was created in 1986 by Norfolk artist Annette Hankin. At the moment it can be viewed in Brian Tweed's butcher's shop in Upwell. Proceeds from the raffle and the harvest stall will go to MAGPAS. Pamela Roche will also be raising funds for MAGPAS with a cake stall on the morning of Saturday, September 30 outside Mr and Mrs Gohill's Upwell newsagency. Members were asked to contribute towards two car boot sales in September, the first in Three Holes on Septrember 9 and the second at St Andrew's Church, Outwell, on September 30. Kath Smith took photographs on the outing to Sandringham Flower Show and has given copies to the club for its archives. Speaker was social historian Brian Jones, whose illustrated talk on Celebrations, Superstitions and Traditions related to the month of August. He was thanked by Dian Blawer, who served refreshments with Pat Gritton. A raffle, organised by Eileen Leeman and Kath Smith. Pamela Roche ran a bring and buy stall, raising £19 for MAGPAS.
