CHILDREN took a trip down to the farm to see how their vegetables grow.

Schools were invited to Fenmarc Produce to meet their local farmers and see what foods they grow.

As well as learning about a variety of vegetables including peppers, gherkins and squashes, they also got to have a look at a potato trial plot and a big vegetable patch.

The aim was to get young guns to realise where their food comes from and understand the vital link between the farm and the supermarket.

Fenmarc director Mark Taylor said “The children seemed really enthusiastic and had lots of questions.

“This was a great start to an event we aim to build on year-on-year.”

The kids also planted their own potatoes, which they then took home after the event on Monday, June 14.
