LARGE-scale employers, local cafes and restaurants are among those being targeted by Fenland District Council to deliver healthier food.
The council says it staff have now been trained to deliver the Chartered Institute Level 2 Award in Nutrition and a pilot course is under way.
"Attending this course will enable and encourage caterers to prepare healthy balanced meals to offer customers," said Councillor Jill Tuck, portfolio holder for community first' and partnerships.
She said recent reports put the level of obesity in Fenland as the highest in the eastern region.
"In relation to consumption of five or more portions of fruit and vegetables, Fenland ranks second lowest," she said.
