The Magpas team worked alongside a fire and rescue crew to remove the patient safely from the vehicle.

A Magpas spokesman said: “Our team sedated the woman and administered enhanced pain relief, whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Crew and Rapid Response Paramedic at the scene.

“The patient was then accompanied by the Magpas team, in a land ambulance, to Addenbrooke’s Hospital - where on arrival she was in a serious but stable condition.”

The crash happened shortly after 2.30pm and closed the road between the roundabouts at the Mepal Outdoor Centre and at Sutton.

A police spokesman described it as a “serious-injury collision”.
