TOM Denton from Whittlesey is the new Army Cadet Commander for the Peterborough and Fenland areas.
Tom, 58, has served for more than 20 years with the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force in jobs across the county ranging from Company Sergeant Major, through Detachment Commander to his most recent post as second in command of the company based at Waterbeach.
His new post, with the rank of major, is based at the TA Centre, in London Road, Fletton.
Family man Tom, pictured, a past pupil of Sir Harry Smith Community College, has lived in Whittlesey and worked for Perkins Engines at Peterborough, for 30 years
He said: "I am greatly looking forward to helping the youth of Peterborough and the fens achieve their best.
"The Army Cadet Force offers young people fun, challenge, and adventure and I am proud to be a part of it. It can't be beaten for the range of things you can achieve, from Duke of Edinburgh and BTec awards to simply learning self-confidence and self-reliance"
