DURING their summer break, March and District Amateur Operatic Society has given various awards.

The Iona Morton Cup was presented by Chris Morton to the backstage crew, in recognition of their work for 'Barnum'.

Other awards were voted for by all members involved in the production. They were: Most promising player, Jonathan Darwood for his portrayal of Major Tom Thumb; greatest commitment to the show David Brammer, for playing P T Barnum; most memorable moment in the show (walking the tightrope), David Brammer; best performance, Sally Rose for the role of Jenny Lind.

Now the Society is preparing for its autumn show 'Sounds of the Sixties'. This has been compiled by Musical Director Ivan Garford and will run from October 24-28. The Society is also looking for anyone interested in helping with wardrobe or backstage. CONTACT: 01354 652156.
