Thousands of people took part in a gruelling, muddy, agility challenge on Sunday morning, known more commonly as Insane Terrain.

The event which took place at Washbrook Farm, Benwick Road, Doddington, saw many taking part for charity, and equally as many just for fun.

Lucy Howard, of Doddington, said: “It was something I have never done before and totally out of my comfort zone, I wanted to do it for a challenge.

“Although I felt very nervous at the start, the adrenalin and the constant cheers from spectators were very encouraging”, she added.

“It was so much fun and I can’t wait for next year.”

Organisers of the nationally renowned event describe it is an ‘obstacle race built for fun’, something Rachel Crouch seemed to have agreed with after completing the course.

“I just took part for fun. I wanted to see if I could do it.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect as this was the first time I’d done this kind of event but I really enjoyed it”, she added.

Mike Blake, who raised £130 for Prostate Cancer UK, said: “My girlfriend nominated me to do it because she had completed the Muddy Run in Peterborough.

“Although I felt OK beforehand, I found it very hard work and paid early on for not doing much training.”

Barnleigh Huggins, who also took part and raised £700 for Cancer Research, said: “I was a bit apprehensive before the race as I just wasn’t sure what to expect or how bad it would be.

“My mum has recently been diagnosed with cancer so I was running for charity”, he added.

“The support from everyone was brilliant and as it turned out I really enjoyed it and thought it was great fun....most of the time.”

Organisers said on social media: “Well done and thank you to everyone who took part in our biggest event ever!”
