IT'S a convenient spot. It's quite a safe area. There's food close by. There's peace and quiet. And there's a pretty view as well.

Even so, this moorhen has chosen an unlikely place to build its nest and bring its young into the world - the stern if a narrowboat, moored in March.

The east of England is common breeding ground for the bird, which can be identified by its yellow-tipped red bill. They normally breed on freshwater lakes and rivers.
