Anglia Gas Centre celebrates 25 years of successful business in new showroom

ONE of the region’s most successful family-run businesses is celebrating 25 years of trading this week - and Anglia Gas Centre looks set to go from strength to strength.

The company, based in Ivatt Way, Peterborough, has been serving happy customers for a quarter of a century after Director Ray Allen started their first shop in Fenstanton in 1986.

Since then the business has excelled, taking charge of premises in Chatteris and St Ives before combining the stores to take over Peterborough Calor Centre in 1994.

Mr Allen took full control of the business in 1997 and continued to expand Anglia Gas Centre with his son Matthew, who rose through the ranks from yard man to company director.

Matthew now handles the day-to-day running of the company. He said: “I came into the business when I was 19, started off at the bottom and worked my way up. We are a family-run business and that’s important to us.

“We are always trying to adapt and change things to keep our customers happy - we now send out special DVD brochures.

“We have recently re-done our showroom and it’s a really exciting time for the business. I’m hoping we’ve got another good 25 years to come.”
