The Environment Agency teamed up with a voluntary group from Peterborough to hold a competition for keen anglers in Coates.
They teamed up with the Peterborough Drug and Alcohol Resettlement Team, that works with young people aged 10-18 who have substance misuse problems and are involved with Peterborough Youth Offending Service.
Most youngsters had several introductory sessions at fisheries, but the event at Kingsland Lake on Tuesday was their first competition.
It was used by DART to provide alternative and constructive leisure activities for the youngsters, an important element of their work.
The Environment Agency also promotes angling as a powerful way of increasing self-esteem and well-being. It is proven to tackle anti-social behaviour, educational under-achievement and youth crime.
