An Argentinian school choir will travel 7,000 miles to perform in a Fenland church next Thursday.
The South American singers, from St Andrew’s Scots School in Buenos Aires, are touring Britain and north Europe to help celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of their school, which was established by missionaries from St Andrew’s in Scotland.
The 63-strong touring party, aged 16 to 18, together with eight staff members, will stop off at St Peter and St Paul Church in Wisbech on January 30.
At the concert, they will perform alongside Wisbech Grammar School’s Dolce Choir.
The day after, the tourists will sing in an assembly at the school led by the Spanish department before visiting the Wisbech & Fenland Museum and Octavia Hill’s Birthplace House.
They will then spend half a day in Cambridge before returning to the school to stage a concert featuring their wind and jazz bands. The concert at St Peter’s church starts at 7.30pm and is open to the public. A retiring collection will be held on behalf of the church.
