Fenland District Council showed its support for military men and women past and present when it flew a special flag in the run up to the ninth annual Armed Forces Day.

The council joined hundreds of local authorities and organisations across the UK in hoisting an Armed Forces Day flag on Monday (19), marking the start of a week of celebrations honouring Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

Fenland District Council Chairman Kay Mayor said: “We are honoured to be part of this annual salute to our Armed Forces, past and present, which show amazing resilience and courage at home and around the world. Our district has a proud history of involvement with the Armed Forces, and we pay tribute to them and their families.”

The annual event raises awareness of the contribution made by those in the forces like troops, veterans, reservists and cadets.
