FIRE fighters were called to a travellers site at Murrow just before midnight to deal with a burning van that had been deliberately set alight.
A man who tried to tackle the blaze suffered from smoke inhalation. He was given oxygen by fire fighters and then taken to hospital by ambulance.
Two fire crews attended the incident at Sea Dyke Bank, and used a hose reel to extinguish the fire before returning to their station by 1.20am. The Transit type vehicle was unattended at the time of the blaze, and was almost completely destroyed.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact the police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
