THIEF Helen Juby jettisoned a couple of DVDs she had stolen when challenged outside a store, and one of the stolen items hit the assistant manager on the face.
Juby, 29, appeared before Fenland magistrates on Tuesday, when she was jailed for 14 days - but because she had served time on remand, she was due for immediate release.
She told the court she was homeless but had a "care-of" address in Highfield Road, March.
She had admitted stealing the DVDs from the Catalogue Shop, in Wisbech, and assaulting assistant manager Jemma Edwards on January 17, being drunk and disorderly on March 6, missing two court appearances, and breaching a conditional discharge.
Solicitor Ben Pearson said the assault on Ms Edwards was reckless rather than deliberate, and Juby had a problem with drink in the past.
