CHRISTOPHER Hawkes and his partner Latonya Bell had been rowing over the housework when he pinned her down, grabbed her around the neck and threatened to kill her.
He spat in her face, threw a number of items at her, and rattled a cutlery drawer to frighten her into believing she was going to be stabbed.
But after calling the police, Ms Bell wanted to stop the incident going to court and made a withdrawal statement, Fenland magistrates were told.
But the case went ahead, and on Tuesday Hawkes, 32, of Riverdown, March, admitted assaulting Ms Bell on March 31. Sentencing was adjourned until May 8.
