A group of Brownies have shown they are leading the way when it comes to nature by getting their wildlife explorer badge.
Twenty Six Girls aged 7-10 years from 4th March Brownies were presented with their badges by their leaders following a day of activities at the Welney Wetland Centre.
The event was made possible due to a donation to host the day from March Lions Club.
To complete the badge the girls had to use binoculars, do some pond dipping, make mini bug hotels, try their hand at bark rubbing and make pine cone feeders for the birds.
Emma Southwell, the Leader in charge of the day, said “I am very grateful to March Lions Club for their funding which made it possible for all Brownies from 4th March to attend the event.
“It was a chance for the girls to learn and explore the work that goes on at Welney Wetland Centre and to see the wildlife for themselves.”
The badges available to Brownies offer a wide range of exciting opportunities and adventures for girls aged 7-10 years from Brownie camper to Computer and Designer.
The Brownies were not the only people that received badges. Leaders, Emma Southwell and Emily Syred, were presented with their Going Away with certificates that qualify them to run multi-night residential adventures for the girls.
