TONY Taylor persistently ignored his driving ban. He even drove on the same day he appeared in court to deny a previous offence.

But on Wednesday he was back in custody and before Fenland magistrates, who jailed him for a total of five months.

Prosecutor Nicola Ebbs told the court how Taylor had appeared in court on Tuesday and denied driving while disqualified and without insurance on February 9 - but soon after walking out of court he was back behind the wheel.

He was arrested and on Wednesday admitted driving when disqualified and without insurance on February 9 and 14.

Taylor was already subject to a four-month suspended prison sentence for driving while disqualified in 2004.

He had originally been banned from driving in 1999, and remains disqualified until he takes an extended re-test.

"His blatant disregard for court orders, by routinely driving, has placed other people's lives at risk," said Miss Ebbs.

Taylor, 32, of Southwell Road, Wisbech, was banned from driving for three years.
