A residential home in March has received a glowing Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.

Inspectors rated Belmont Road in March, which accommodates people with learning and physical disabilities, as “good” across the board.

People received the care and support they needed to meet their needs, and their dignity and independence was “valued”, the report said.

The needs of residents were actively reviewed, inspectors said, and residents were supported to take part in a range of activities that were important to them.

Inspectors said: “We saw that people were smiling when they engaged with staff and people’s relatives told us that their family member was kept safe, and they were very satisfied with how their family member was looked after.

“The learning disability nurse and GP all told us that people were kept safe as staff treated them well. A GP told us that there was always enough staff when they visited.”

Staff were described as knowledgeable, and residents received a good standard of personal care.

One of the surveys of relatives, cited by inspectors, said: “This is an excellent home. I never announce my visits but I will always find my family member well cared for.”

Another relative said the staff were “very, very kind” and, during the visit, inspectors said people were laughing, singing and talking.

There were links with the community, with people attending educational courses, religious services and recreational activities.

The home is managed by Craegmoor, which is part of the Priory Group.

Sarah Hughes, chief executive officer of Craegmoor, said: “Our staff work incredibly hard to ensure residents at Belmont Road receive the best quality of care and support possible.

“This latest CQC report is a great testament to the way residents and their families, and staff, make Belmont Road such a happy place.”
