Benwick teen raises £638 for Teenage Cancer Trust with fundraising day

A charity fundraising day at Benwick Village Hall has helped to raise £638 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The event was organised by 18-year-old Ryan Large who has been clear of cancer for two years now.

The fundraising day included live music from Holly Orridge, Zelda Finch as well as tombola’s, raffles and minions.

Ryan said that his recovery has made him a better and stronger person.

“I’m very pleased that we raised so much.

“Someone even donated a £50 note after I gave my speech!

“My original target was £500 so to have beaten that is great.”

Ryan started fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust on August 23 2014 and has organised 15 different charity events.

So far he has raised £5,946.21.

Ryan has also met numerous celebrities through his charity work, including Caroline Flack and Stephen Fry.

The Benwick teen has now has set a target of £10,000 and if he reaches that will then move on to £20,000.

Ryan plans to hold a Christmas disco for his next fundraising event.
