Damien Beeby who won £50 and a shield in a bio diversity competition run throughout schools in Chatteris. The competition was part of this year's Chatteris Town in Bloom effort and Damien showed judges his winning entry when they inspected the town.

Judges examined more than 130 items watered by the In Bloom committee every day, totalling 175 hours of watering. Extra displays included those put in by Fenland Council, as well as the new display in front of the church.

Businesses and voluntary organisations also contributes and even the Empress Pool had a new mural.

Chatteris Youth Council planted a 'drought garden' in Huntingdon Road and various competitions took place, including those for best garden and best in bloom business.

Chatteris will hear the results of their efforts at an awards ceremony in September.
