SPIRITS were not dampened when rain stopped play at the Outdoor GER Bowls Club on Sunday, when a charity match was due to take place in memory of former member Ivy Norton.
Due to the bad weather, the game could not take place, but the event turned into a social, with plenty of food and drink on offer.
Around 400 was raised, to be divided between the Cancer Research and the Stroke Association.
Artist Mr John Abbott presented three paintings for the club rooms, and also gave a landscape painting as a raffle prize.
