ANOTHER grandee of the PR world, Maddy Ratnett, also touched base this week – but the world she inhabits is altogether more rarefied than that of restaurateurs and eateries.
Maddy is press officer for the eastern region for HM Revenues and Customs and her mission was to spell out the consequences for self-employed if they fail to complete their tax returns on time.
“More than 3,000 people broke off their Christmas celebrations to file their tax return online,” she gleefully announced.
Not only that but “845 people logged onto the HMRC website to file an online tax return on Christmas Day with a further 2,408 submitting their self-assessment returns online on Boxing Day”.
