IT may not be the best photo in the world (I stopped the car in the pouring rain and walked over to take it on my mobile phone) but this sign at Bedlam Bridge near March irritated me so badly I finally cracked.
The sign should have been taken down three weeks ago once the A1101 at Welney reopened after recent flooding but motorists, many of them visitors no doubt, would still have been forced into a 30-mile diversion because the Environment Agency had not ordered the removal of signs like this.
Whether it was luck, coincidence or a quirk of human nature but within 24 hours of my taking the photo, the sign had been removed.
Not before time.
