The evening of Wednesday September 5 was not like any other March Can’t Sing Choir evening at Trinity Church Hall, as all singing was halted at 8pm for a charity event.

Sally’s long hair also went in bunches to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs free of charge to children and young people up to the age of 24 who have suffered hair loss due to illness.

Local hairdresser Sue Hall and colleague Lisa, of Short Back & Sides, removed the pair’s locks. Friends, family and members of the choir assisted and made donations.

Paul Hayward said: “A huge thanks to everyone who has supported our shave event. We both wanted to raise money for this charity in memory of family and friends.”

The Brave the Shave event raised £570.48 and counting.

“Within that figure is an amazing £194.60 in donations collected on the Wednesday evening itself.”
