The incident happened at about 1.30pm, in High Street, with reports of “two men in balaclavas” stealing the items and loading them into a white Renault van.

Two motocross bikes and a pitbike – a smaller version of a motorcycle – were taken in the raid along with boots, helmets and a host of other equipment.

The bikes taken included an orange/black Ktm exc 250 2005, a red/black Honda crf 250 2006 and a mini bike Honda 150.

The owner of the bikes posted on Facebook: “Our neighbour opposite witnessed the whole thing and called police but they didn’t get there in time. Two men in balaclavas with a white Renault van. They obviously didn’t care about being seen.”
