Breeder’s impassioned plea to recover 10 of her prized dogs stolen in smash and grab raid on her Fenland home

Mrs Freeman, of Walpole St Andrews, was away from her home on a shopping trip to Wisbech when her home was burgled and the 10 dogs snatched.

“I was only away for a short time-but in that brief time they smashed their way in and took the dogs,” she said.

Included in the haul were two pug puppies each valued at £1,200- and two bull dogs, each worth at least £1,500.

Photos of the dogs – and photos of those similar to those which were stolen- have been circulated across the country and Europe through social media and via websites specialising in missing dogs.

“There are loads of people out there concerned about what’s happened, “she said. “They are all heartbroken that someone or some people could do this to me.”

Among the dogs stolen were both the mother and her puppies which means, says Mrs Freeman, the thieves “have wiped out a whole breeding line”.

“It’s everything I’ve worked for all these years and it’s all gone,” she said.

Mrs Freeman said the dogs were stolen sometime on Friday between noon and 2pm when she went to a market trader in Wisbech and stopped off at Lidl for some household goods.

“I hadn’t planned even to go out but I thought ‘oh crumbs’ I need some potatoes so nipped into Wisbech,” she said. “It wasn’t a planned outing- whoever did this must have been watching the house for sometime.”

Norfolk Police said the adult dogs were bulldogs and pugs of varying ages and colours, whilst the puppies are all females. Two are bulldogs, one brindle and white and one white, whilst the other two are black pugs.

“Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the village during the afternoon who may have seen or heard anything suspicious,” said a spokesman. “The offenders would have needed a large vehicle to transport the dogs away”

Mrs Freeman said the burglars left her with an elderly black dog who she said had been “pensioned off” and a handful of other younger dogs that managed to hide or ran off.
