A man had to be cut free from his van yesterday evening after he collided with a bridge near Stonea on the B1098.

Firefighters were forced to cut the driver out of the vehicle using specialist equipment at around 7.20pm on Thursday, November 22.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: “One crew from Manea and one crew from Chatteris were called to the road traffic collision.

“We arrived to find a van had collided with a bridge. We released one male casualty who was left in the care of ambulance crews.

“The crews returned to their stations by 8.45pm.”
