A STEAM train graced a Fenland town when it turned round to travel back to Sussex last Thursday.
Britannia, the first of 55 standard class 7 engines to be built by British Railways in Crewe, was travelling from Lewes, West Sussex to Ely as part of a tour organised by Steam Dreams.
Paul Dufour captured these images of the engine, which is limited at 75 miles per hour, whilst it turned round at Whitemoor yard to head back to pick up passengers at Ely.
He said: “Britannia turned up at around 3.30pm to a big crowd of people. It was fantastic to see one of the few standard class 7 engines still running here in March.
“It would have been a long day for the passengers as they left Lewes at 9am and weren’t expected back until 11pm.”
