What a difference a week makes for Bunny the whippet cross who has gained half a stone thanks to some serious TLC from the team who rescued her.

In a short space of time, Bunny has gained an impressive amount of weight so that her ribs can no longer be seen sticking out from under her skin. She is also enjoying playing happily with other dogs at her new temporary home.

Shelley Ridgeon, of Ravenswood Pet Rescue, said: “She is having a meet with possible new owners soon and her weight has gone from 19.1kg to 22.3kg in a week.

“Her fur is growing back nicely and she had a negative skin scrape for mange.

“Her tail may not need an operation as the skin is going over the bone.”

Bunny was rescued running scared and hungry in fields around Chatteris and an appeal went out for help for food and donations to pay for her veterinary care.

Shelley said: “We had stacks of stuff including coats, jumpers, collars, food, toys and treats and also Sisco Garage at Wimblington now has a collection pot for her.”

A fashion show organised at the GER was among the donations and support.

Bunny was captured thanks to a special £800 dog trap which was bought by the rescue last year. Every rescue using the contraption has been a success, Shelley said.
