A would-be burglar was caught in the act in March yesterday. (June 4)

Between 11.30 and 11.45am, a man attempted to pick a lock to enter a home on Fenland Walk. He was discovered by a teenager, who confronted him and raised the alarm. The culprit ran off somewhere in the Fenland Walk area.

The incident was reported on Facebook March Free Discussion.

Andrew Stockbridge said: “In broad daylight, in full view of dozens of public, a man was caught red-handed breaking into a residential property in the centre of March.

“He definitely suffered injury to the side of his face before fleeing the scene.

“This was a man, not a teenager, big build , wearing a blue cap, faded blue denim jeans and white trainers. He ran off somewhere around the Fenland Walk area.”

A police spokesman said: “A man was reported interfering with the lock on the door of a flat above the main shopping area in Broad Street, March.

“He then ran away. This happened about 11.30am-11.45am on June 4.”
