Pupils at a March primary school switched up their socks in a bid to stop bullying this week.

Youngsters at Burrowmoor School wore odds socks yesterday (November 16) as part of the Anti-Bullying Association’s (ABA) anti-bullying week.

The idea was first thought of by CBeebie’s presenter and ABA patron, Andy Day and since then, thousands of pupils across the country have sported odd socks to highlight that we’re all different but all equal.

Helen Willatt, assistant head of school, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: “Bullying is an on-going problem that’s happening all over the country unfortunately and we need to make our children aware that it’s not ok to be bullied and that we need to put a stop to bullying.

“If we’re not aware of it and doing something about and highlighting the problems with bullying then we can’t move forward and here at Burrowmoor we’re trying to do that.

One of the school’s pupils said: “We’re all different and the world would be boring if we were all the same.

“I don’t understand why when people like different things and have different hobbies that they’d want to actually bully them. Everyone is different and everyone is special.”
