A 400-ACRE arable farm on the edge of the Fens complete with buildings and a derelict cottage has been sold for more than 2.57million.
The 419-acre Avenue Farm at Fenton, near Warboys, Cambridgeshire, sold well in excess of the guide price with the land achieving 6,300 per acre.
Adrian Wilson, head of rural for Savills in Cambridge which sold the farm, said: “We received a strong level of interest in the farm from investors as well as farmers.
“We are very pleased with the strong price achieved, which supports our recent research that the agricultural land market remains resilient in these financially challenging times.
“Our farmland forecast indicates continued growth into 2011.”
