UPCOMING farmers have the opportunity to take their first step into agriculture at a Fenland estate.

Daintree Farm, in Ramsey St Mary’s, is hosting a special visiting day on January 12, 2011, and Cambridgeshire County Council Farms Estate want a new tenant for the 318 acre holding, with a three-bedroom bungalow, barns and buildings.

Councillor John Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Resources and Performance, said: “These farms offer the tenants the chance to start their own rural business or to move up the farming ladder. The chance to take over a farm in the Cambridgeshire countryside is a rare opportunity and I’m sure there will be a lot of interest.”

With more than 30,000 of land, Cambs County Council Farm Estate, the largest of its kind in the country and more than 100 years old, helps new farmers start up their business, and the money raised helps fund the council’s frontline services.
