BUSINESSMAN Simon Crowson has been charged with criminal damage after an incident at the home of Chatteris Mayor, Councillor Sue Elam.
Mr Crowson, 38, will appear before Fenland magistrates next Wednesday after allegedly damaging a car and caravan belonging to the Elams last week.
Two of the Elams' sons, Joe, 18, and Peter, 17, were in the house at The Elms, Chatteris, in the early hours of last Wednesday when the incident occurred. Both Cllr Elam and her husband Brian were at Hinchingbroke Hospital at the time after their other son, Luke, 14, had slipped and badly broken his ankle.
Mr Crowson opened a shop in West Park Street, Chatteris, earlier in the summer trading as Director Interiors UK.
