BRIDEGROOM Nigel Everitt made an emergency call to make sure his bride had her dream transport to their Valentine's Day wedding.

Not only did the romantic farmer keep the wedding a secret until the last possible moment, he arranged for his fiancee Dee Everitt, and her five bridesmaids to travel to March Register Office in a customised fire engine.

Dee's youngest daughter, 12-year-old Sophie, first had the idea of the fire engine. She said: "She just likes firemen and I thought it would be a good idea."

Nigel made a call to Stretched4style of Peterborough and the 14-seater fire engine was ready on call for the big day.

Nigel's sister, Tracey Rush, said: "Dee has always had a thing about firemen and fire engines and it is such a romantic thing for her to go to the wedding in a fire engine."

Dee, who organised her part of the wedding in just one week, loved her wedding transport and couldn't think of a better way to travel. Speaking shortly before the ceremony, she said: "I did it all in a week, the dresses and everything. I just kept calm and didn't panic. I like firemen and fire engines and it has made the day."

The couple, who live at Pondersbridge, emerged from the ceremony to travel to a reception at The Lion, Ramsey, aboard the fire engine with the rest of the bridal party.
