A GIRLS’ football team proudly show off their winners medals after they clinched the Cambridgeshire County Cup for their age group.

The Cambs Times highlighted AFC Whittlesey’s Under-14s success last week but club secretary Andy Powell asked if we could publish a photo from the evening’s celebrations too. We were more than happy to oblige.

Annie Posnett’s last-minute winner secured the side’s 1-0 victory against Witchford at Chatteris Town’s West Street ground.

The team’s Cambs County Tesco Cup triumph was made even more remarkable considering it was the achieved in only the girls’ second season together.

Whittlesey’s cup-winning girls will now represent Cambs FA in the Central England Regional Finals at Warwick University on May 8.
