Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service are looking for brave individuals to join the team as wholetime firefighters at the end of the month (January 2018).
People interested in becoming a wholetime firefighter will need to register online at www.cambsfire.gov.uk and book a place on one of the upcoming information events.
Registration opens at 10am on January 29 2018 and will stay open until midnight on March 8 2018 the day before the last information event, or until all places have been booked.
Candidates will be required to attend one of the eight information events in order to gain access to the online application process.
Chief Fire Officer, Chris Strickland said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to join our team in helping to keep our communities safe.
“There is a lot more to being a firefighter than people think; there is a much greater emphasis on engaging with communities and working proactively with partners to prevent emergencies.
“All of our firefighters bring something different to the team and this emphasises why we want to receive applications from a wide range of people from different backgrounds and experiences.
“There are great career opportunities within the fire service, for those wanting to progress to management roles, we offer a number of different ways to support and development staff.
“Or you may want to specialise in a particular area such as community safety or fire protection.
“There are also opportunities to become trainers or get involved in projects, or we support people to just be the best firefighter they can be.
“Whatever you decide, it’s an incredibly rewarding career where no two days are the same.”
As well as attending an information event, interested candidates will have to undertake a thorough assessment process, including physical assessments and fitness and written tests.
Candidates must permanently reside within 10 miles of the boundary of the county of Cambridgeshire, must be 18 on or before May 6, 2018, have five or more GCSEs A* - C (or equivalent), including Maths and English Language, be able to swim, hold a full UK driving licence without restrictions and not be subject to any unspent criminal convictions.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service values diversity and actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups in our communities, especially black and ethnic minority groups and women.
